Paxton – Dad: There are no colorful strands of english that can be woven together and do justice to how much I am thankful for you. You are a constant, tangible example of the man I strive to be; Your ruthless trust in the Lord, the way you love mom, and the manner in which you lead our family are undeniably authentic and getting to grow up and witness that everyday is the biggest blessing. I am beyond proud to be your son. I’m definitely missing you and the rest of the clan tons! Sending love all the way from Antartica. Wait. Scratch that. Alabama. Yep, Argentina! Dang it. I’m in Africa. Nailed it. Gotta love geology. I hope this fathers day is full of bliss. See ya Alex. -Pax
Kelley – hi daddy!! Happy Father’s Day from halfway across the world! I cannot express in words how much I miss you. I think of you every single day and appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for always being on my side and for being my biggest supporter! You are the best father and best friend I could ask for. I miss your humor and constantly quoting Nacho Libre to each other. I have gotten some good laughs from your letters so far… I guess I better get ready to walk home from Braselton, huh? Don’t have too much fun at the new house without me! I can’t wait to see you so soon! I love you so much and I am praying for you! Also send love to the rest of the family for me!
Alison – Hi Daddy! Happy Fathers day!!! I have been missing you so very much and have thought of you every single day. You would absolutely love the community that we are in right now, it reminds me so much of the many adventures that we have had together. Everyday I wish that you were here with me or that I could just have a big bear hug from you and hear one of your typical Dad jokes. You’re my biggest supporter and one of my best friends and I miss you so much and can’t wait to see and talk to you again! (Also love and miss you Mom, Michael, and Kile.)
Abby – As stereotypical as it is, my dad is the best. He is one of my biggest supporters, he pushes me in my faith and in my life in general, and he’s one of the reasons I’m sitting in East Africa writing this today. He’s done more for me than I could ever return, and I’m forever indebted to him. Thank you for your incredible love and example you’ve set for your family father dear! Love you to death, and I know I’ll see you soon!
Natalie – Pops… Man. It’s been 29 days since I’ve seen you. AKA a long time! I’m sitting here on the other side of the world wishing I could tell you Happy Father’s Day in person. I miss your goofy humor, your Primo-grilled burgers, your intentional check-ins, and the way you constantly point me toward my Heavenly Father. I am not wishing the next 6 weeks away, but I cannot wait to be reunited and tell y’all about all that I’m experiencing and how I’m growing! I LOVE YOU! Praying for you all, fam. (Hi Mom, Mere, and J <3)
Emily – Hey Poppa! I can’t believe it’s almost been a month since I’ve talked to you! I wish that I could write you a million words to tell you how thankful I am that you’re my dad, but maybe just read over your bday letter again for Father’s Day. I miss your morning texts and spending time out on the patio making music together, but know that I am doing so so well in Africa and growing and learning so much from God. Give momma a big hug for me (& call the grandparents and sisters to tell them I’m doing good). I love you to the moon & all the way back again. — your sweet pea.
Alex – hi daddy!!! happy father’s day! being half way across the world, diving into the culture of each diverse community we travel to, and gaining so much perspective - I am missing my adventure buddy more than ever. so far a few things I’ve done out of my comfort zone are cutting off the head of a chicken, preaching in an East African church, and milking a cow - wishing so much you were here to share these experiences with me! the Lord has been so good and so faithful here, and he is refining me in ways unexplainable. today I am sending you love and the BIGGEST hug. I’ll see you in 6 weeks, mmmmmwah! (ps thanks for the 10 pages of East African facts. lol.)
Maddie – Wow oh wow. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, Daddio! As I’m sitting here in Africa I can’t help but think of how much of an inspiring man you are & how much I wish you were here experiencing this beautiful place with me. I miss you so incredibly much & I’m so excited to be able to tell you about all the work God is doing right this very moment. Thinking of you constantly on this Father’s day (& everyday). Tell the fam I say hello! I love you infinitely, Dad! Can’t wait to see you soon.
Lakeland – Daddy, I will never stop thanking the Lord for the time I got to spend with you on Earth and I will never stop thanking Him for the promise of being reunited one day in Heaven. I am so grateful God has brought me to one of our favorite places to bring me through the healing process. Thank you for laying down such a sweet foundation for my faith and for loving and serving our family in the name of Jesus. I miss you more than words can say, but I am more than joyful that one day I will get to hug you again.
Mama, McKinley, North, and Oakley- I love you all waaaay too much. We are just on this Earth for a little bit before eternity with Jesus AND Daddy! Walk in crazy joy today.
Katie – BT! Happy, happy Father’s Day to you! I am so incredibly bummed I couldn’t be with you today to tell you how much I love you. But because God always has bigger plans for our lives then we ever intend, I am typing out this blog post on a computer in Africa. Dad, the way you have loved, encouraged, provided, and been so present in my life is one of the best gifts. Thanks for being you and for cheering me on in this journey (even when you weren’t excited to see me go) I cannot wait to tell you all the ways God has been working these past few weeks. Save me a seat at Cheffies, okay?
Kailee – Hey Daddy! Kailee girl here. I love you more than you could ever know & I know today might be hard. But Daddy, i pray that even without a father or kids to celebrate today with you in person, you KNOW that you aren’t alone today. The beautiful truth is that today, you are EVERYTHING but alone. You are called beloved and known by OUR Father and his spirit DWELLS within you. It’s so apparent. And i’m just so thankful that his will for our lives was to live it together. And hey, HIS power is made perfect in our weakness, so embrace that. It’s the end of Father’s Day here in Africa, but I saw Him all over this day. So as your Father’s day begins, look for him in everything. Cause He’s with you & all around you.
P.S. - Eat some chocolate cake, cause Daddy’s great, and somewhere over the rainbow dreams really do come true.
Becca – Hi pops! I still remember writing you this last year. I am more in awe this year and pray that you get to see this community one day. I hope you are loved and cared for by mama and everyone you encounter today. You deserve the world pops and I am really truly honored to call you my dad. love you daddy-o
Allie – Dad! When I wrote one of these last year to you I had no idea I’d be writing one the next year. I hope you feel loved today by everyone around you, and I hope you use today to do all your favorite things. And PLEASE rest. Thank you for all your support in me coming for a second time, and for your letter that ended with “Eat more chicken. MOOOO.” Know that I love you more than I love my favorite community that we’re in right now. You deserve celebration today. Keep smiling.
Anna B. – Papa Smurf!! Oh my how I miss you! Happy Father’s Day daddy. You know this already but you are the most incredible father in the whole world. The Lord knew what I needed in an earthly father, and He went above and beyond when He blessed me with you. I look up to you dad and the Holy Spirit is alive in you. You are kind, gentle, genuine, supportive, and the most loving and gracious man I know. Thank you for the all of the times you have prayed for me and told me to keep the faith. Keep seeking the Father this summer and letting Him love you and mom. I am praying for you this summer! I LOVE YOU and I’m sending the biggest hug your way.
Win – Dad, thank you for being my biggest supporter, and for being such a constant presence in my life. All of my friends know they can count on all4given for some solid encouragement, and that is a gift! I can’t imagine who I’d be without what you’ve instilled in me. I hope your father’s day is full of appreciation and celebration of all you do!
Jake – Fat Girl!!!!! (aka Dad) Thank you for always supporting me in this new life of mine. Since Journey 2015 you have been in my corner cheering me on verbally and in prayer. It meant a lot when you supported me in going back to Africa when the doctors and others said i wasn't going to make it. I hope one day I will be able to repay everything that you have done for me. Happy Fathers Day, love ya man.
