(In)Dependence Day

I am not sure what your Independence Day menus consisted of, but I got word today that the Journey team celebrated the United States birthday with: sloppy joes, baked beans, macaroni salad, ice cream, funnel cakes and a whole lot of red, white and blue! That sounds pretty good to me, don't you think? The crew is currently in the village right now and I cant think of any better way to spend the day than living out the freedom that we have in Christ in such a special community. Today as Americans we are certainly grateful for those who have served and come before us to provide the gift of freedom. The sacrifices are real and they have definitely not been in vain. We are a grateful people.

I have been reminded today of the freedom that we have in Christ on every single day. Jesus sacrificed everything for us in His life and His death. He came to serve, not to be served that our debt may be payed. In His death, He gave us the gift of abundant life by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Today as we celebrate our country's independence, as Christians we should also be celebrating our DEPENDENCE on Jesus. The Sacrifice and the Source of our faith, hope and love. To Him be the glory!

Much love from your Journey team today!
