Carter Abel

Hey everyone!

My name is Carter Abel, and I was born and raised in Jonesboro, AR. I just finished up my Freshman year at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, where I'm studying Religion and the Arts (Music). God has given me an immense passion for both music and service, and so I feel extremely blessed to be able to study the way they interact and eventually implement them fully into whatever God has planned for me after college.

Throughout my later high school years I began to feel God placing the people of Africa on my heart more and more, and that initial spark of interest burst into a flame when I first heard about the 410 Bridge and the people of Kenya. I heard about the Journey internship through a Bigstuf intern named Jensen Davis, and the more I prayed about it I knew that God was calling me to leave my comfort zone and pursue this passion. I feel blessed and excited to be able to participate in the Journey, and I can't wait to meet all the rest of the interns and spread God's fame love and fame this summer!

The two main things I hope to gain this summer are direction and transformation. I feel like God is calling me towards something involving music and missions, but I have no idea what that means or looks like. So part of what I desire is for God to give me a deeper understanding of what His will is for me, and to strength my trust in his guidance. I also hope for my experiences this summer to help me take any mediocrity or apathy that I have towards my relationship with God and replace it with a heart that seeks Gods more deeply and passionately.

In the preparation process, God has already begun doing amazing things in my life. Through the wonderful fellowship I've already shared with the interns, I'm beginning to more fully understand God's grace and what it means in my life and in my relationship with Him. God has even been blessing me with physical health in preparation, allowing me to recover incredibly from eye problems that I worried might be a hindrance. He is continually proving to me that there is nothing too big or too difficult for our God!

I am crazy excited about the wonderful things that God is already doing and will most certainly do this summer, and I can't wait to experience it with all the interns and Invest!
